A safe, small day service where adults with learning disabilities can grow, belong and enjoy their day

We offer a structured, meaningful day in a calm, autism-friendly environment with skilled staff, small groups and door-to-door transport.

Who We Support

We support adults aged 18 and over who may have:

  • Learning disabilities

  • Autism spectrum condition

  • Communication differences

  • Sensory processing needs

  • Low-to-moderate behavioural challenges

Activities at Caring Places

Every activity at our day centre is planned so that each individual is learning, practicing and enjoying skills they can use in everyday life. Sessions are adapted for each person’s interests and support needs.

 

Independent Living Skills:

  • Cooking & food preparation: Basic recipes, safe use of equipment, kitchen hygiene, meal planning, nutrition awareness, budgeting for meals.

  • Shopping skills: Making shopping lists, comparing prices, understanding money, using self‑checkouts, speaking with shop staff.

  • Domestic skills: Laundry and ironing, cleaning tasks, room organisation and decluttering, recycling and safe waste disposal.

  • Personal self‑care: Daily hygiene routines, dressing appropriately, dental care awareness, developing healthy lifestyle habits.

  • Time management: Using visual timetables, daily schedules, calendars, clocks and reminder systems.

  • Travel trainingRoad safety, recognising buses, using public transport, planning routes and navigating the local community (where appropriate).


Communication & Social Development:

  • Makaton conversations and signing workshops.

  • PECS and symbol‑based activities.

  • Social stories to support understanding of routines, change and new experiences

  • Group communication games and structured discussions.

  • Role‑play and scenarios (e.g. ordering in a café, asking for help, dealing with problems).

  • Speech clarity and confidence‑building exercises.

  • Learning about personal boundaries, social rules and community behaviour.

How do we start?
Contact us to arrange a visit. We will carry out an assessment, offer a taster session where appropriate and agree a gradual transition plan.

How is the service funded?

Most people are funded through local authority social care or direct payments / personal budgets. We can provide a quotation and information.

Do you provide transport?

Yes. Door‑to‑door transport can be arranged via our specialist partner organisation.

Can you support people with higher needs or behaviours that challenge?
Yes, where safe and appropriate. We offer optional 1:1 support and PBS‑informed plans following assessment and multi‑agency discussion.
